the torx bolts on my diff cover are stripped to hell, does anybody have any suggestions on how to get them out? i've tried vice grips, obviously torx bits, pb blaster and i've only managed to get three out. any advice?

can you air-chisel the heads off?? I have never had any luck welding a nut on..:darn:

i haven't tried welding a nut on there, but that sounds like a good idea. i don't know where jeep came up with the idea to use torx bolts anyway. to me the are crap. thanks for the input.

Around the Auburn area ( Cali ) there's a bunch of old school guys running the 20s. I've seen quite a few switch to studs/ nuts to stop the problem you having. Even when you switch to regular bolts, the next proplem is stripping the housing.

it is an amc 20, but so far i have had no problems(moab, and NM wheeling), so i can't bad mouth it. my buddy with a welder is going to help me this weekend and get those torx out. i'm sure it'll get them out no prob.
