Does anyone know of a good, detailed source that shows how to adjust a steering gear box on an '84 Silverado 4X4 with power steering. I have too much play in mine and I am hoping to adjust it myself. I purchased a Haynes manual but it isn't very specific.

Welcome to the board. :thumb:

There should be a nut on top of the steering box with a spot in the middle for an allen key. You chould be able to loosen up the nut and with an allen key, tighten up the mesh. Turn it clockwise some and then tighten up the bolt again to hold it in place. If you get it too tight, it can make the steering twitchy. It might take a few tries untill you get it where you want it. Hope this helps.

Update-

I found time to tighten up the tie rod sleeve and adjust the steering box and it's made a world of difference.
