hey guys, i'm starting to put together a goodie list for my 1973 Blazer... First thing going in is my 454 out of my Jeep, once I get my caddy engine in the jeep this fall.. Then, gonna put a TH400 tranny in it, and now trying to decide on the transfer case.. I want this to be driveable on the highways, but not necessarily a daily driver comfort wagon. can you give me some recommendations on lifts, tires, T-cases, all the fun stuff to make this a serious offroader?

If you can lay your hands on a 241, I'll trade you for the 205 thats in my Blazer now. Its fine but I want the lower low range.

It was the replacement for the 208 and I think they started around '88 or so. The one I would need would be for a '88 to '91 Blazer or Suburban. they are Aluminum and chain driven. They are stronger than the 208 and you can get fixed output shafts and heavy duty chains for them. They come with around a 2.8:1 low range. I am looking for a lower range but do not want the extra weight or the cost of a doubler setup.

They are interchangable with the 208. The '92 and up do not work as the output is on the Drivers side so they are out. I think the Dodge version is as well. I ran a 208 for years and kept trashing them, but I also had 3.73 gears. I think with the 5.13's it would survive better. I would go with the 208 but you cant get a fixed output conversion for them.
