I was helping a friend put a motor in a sami this weekend which is a pretty simple thing. It turned out to be a nightmare. This was supposed to be a rebuilt motor had the valve cover with the gasket on it everything was all buttoned up. Got around to firing it up and nothing. Okay mabey I am 180 off turned the distributor around still nothing. What the heck double check everything. Start cranking again and I notice quite a bit of raw fuel spitting out the carb. Now being that my mind works very slow we cranked it again still tons of raw fuel spitting out the carb. Okay something is wrong take the valve cover off and the valves weren't adjusted. This motor was supposed to be ready to go Okay get the valves adjusted fire it up and there is a big leak where the oil pan meets the engine block. The oil pan looked like it had been beat with a hammer. We had to take the oil pan off to straighten the oil pan rail and regasket it. Much to our surprise in the bottom of the oil pan lays a 10MM deep well socket. Oh did I mention the engine had some shipping damage due to its being shipped in an empty garbage can instead of being crated. This is why I tend to do my own stuff then let other poeple do it for me. Yes we did get the motor running and well so after all that fustration at least it all worked out for the best :banghead: :banghead:
