I purchased a 1985 4x4 pickup a month ago and I am starting to rebuild it. I purchased a 5" Skyjacker lift. I am going to put 529 gears and lockers. I plan on going to 35's in time, but right now I have some 33's.

My problem is I want selectable lockers front and rear, but my pocket book says lockrights. I am toying with the idea about just putting an ARB in the front and leaving the rear open until I can come up with some cash to lock the rear. It is a daily driver so I don't want to weld the rear. I would like to do it correct the 1st time with out having to re-do alot of stuff.

Any suggestions?

I think if I was to leave one end open it would be the front due to the weak birfield joints. I heard that wild things is giving swinging deals on ARB products 208-524-8225 :thumb:

Another option is too look for a Tacoma TRD rear end with toyota elecronic locker. Not sure how much they go for, or if you can find one, bu I know that I love mine and it is going to be hard to loose it someday when I do my SAS with a D60 up front and a 14bolt in the rear.....

But remember if you find a TRD rear end, do not order gears for a tacoma, they are 210mm gears, you will need gears for a older toyota pick-up, the 200mm ones, most people just call them the 8", and don't order a full install kit, you have to get the carrier bearings from toyota.. :thumb:

Well I purchase an ARB today along with 5.29 gears. I bought from Randy's Ring & Pinion. They knocked about $100 off the total package and have free shipping. I now need to purchase an air compressor and the hardware.
