I've messed around with torsion cranking on chevy LUV's and Nissan trucks before. You can get an inch or two but it ends up riding like crap and the torsion bars wear out faster.

You are better off getting a body lift now and looking for a deal on a proper lift, IMO.

I'm pretty sure all s10s are spring under in the rear. I know the 94 and newer are. As far as cranking the torsion bars go I would not recommend it. You will end up wearing out your ball joints and your cv joints and boots will wear significantly faster. If you are going to get an s10 and you want to wheel it hard I'd recommend you do a solid front axle swap.
