Hey Guys, it's been a while.... I moved and lost my net for a while, but I just now got it back, and in the meantime, here's what's up... about the first of June, I got a hell of a deal on a shop, so, I took it.. I now have a shop! it's called AJs Performance and its in Rigby, next to my house, and I do mechanics there, as well as a bit of welding when needed, but I don't fab much, that's Steve's and CBI offroad's area, ad I don't want to compete with him, for one, he'd kick my ass, for two, he'd outweld and outfabricate me any day, and three, he'd kick my ass... :rotfl: :rotfl:
Right after I got my shop open, Blazinzuk brought his sammy over and I got it running and on the road for him, but, sadly, 2 days later, he lost his rear axle on his way home and rolled it about a mile past my shop.... He was OK, but the Zuk is no more.... He has plans for it tho, and I'll let him tell you about it... Then, two weeks ago, sunday, I had one hell of a day... I first of all, scored a 2 1/2 ton with rockwells with a fresh rebuilt motor and tranny, only ran one spud harvest and then parked 2 years ago... the oil is still honey colored... :thumb: all for the low price of $500... Then, later that afternoon, I did some trading with an uncle who has a SHIT load of vehicles that need fixed for a M10008 or whatever the hell it's called, the army chevy with D60/14 bolt and 6.2 diesel... Sooo... since I gots rockwells, I made Eric a hell of a deal on the 60 for some parts and stuff like that.... I also bought a 1974 chevy van that has a 400SBC and TH400 and a 10 bolt with posi for another $500... BTW, anyone want the 10 bolt and posi? I don't need it... got a set of vortec heads comin up for that motor and an edelbrock performer cam and intake.. that's goin in my blazer before long... I may bore it first, it's a tired motor, but it still grabs ya and throws you back in the seat of the van...I like it! Finally sold the dump truck 1 ton dodge, and cleared out a shitload of parts, most of which got transferred over to Erics, lol! Anyhow, I got my shop in Rigby, and if any of you guys need work, I'll give you one hell of a discount....
gimme a call at the shop at 745-0724.... That means you Matt! I lost your number, lol... Anyone need a flat top D44, a newer D44, a 14 bolt, or 2 blazer 10 bolts, or that van 10 bolt with posi, or a TH700R4/208, gimme a holla, I wanna give em a good home for not too much $$ to guys I know...

BTW, anyone have a manual on that army chevy they would copy for me, or let me borrow? someone converted it to 12V, and now nothing works, and I wanna convert it back to 24V.. Also, the stuff I have for sale, I'd do some trading for tires at least 35"... I also have one some cool rims that need a new home too, I think they are AW ventura's, chevy 6 holers...
pics of the new junk comin up soon...

I may do some tradin with ya Matt......gimme a call... :finger: :finger: :finger:

The flat top 44 is out of a chevy pickup about mid 70's vintage, so it's a pass drop diff. I'm not sure of the WMS #'s, and I won't be in the shop till monday to measure it, but that info should be pretty easy to find...

Hey Corey, you might want to put some thought into a spool, tires wear twice as fast, and parking in an icey parking lot can be nerve racking :? , it will only want go straight at low speeds on ice. Tire wear and ice are the two worst downfalls to a spool, my jeep hopped a little around sharp corners at lower speeds also, if you only drive on the street 20% of the time then a spool can't be beat. :thumb:

Thanks for the tips Steve, I wasn't sure about going with a spool, I was actually going to use a mini spool cause they are alot cheaper. but I think I'll stay away from a spool now. I was also thinking of buying a factory posi for it, cause you can get theme off ebay for real cheap. I would like to go with a better traction device but the funds are extremely limited right now (trying to buy a house).
That factory posi has to be better then the my current open dif.
Thanks again for the tips and any other advice anyone has is greatly appreciated.
-Cory-

Lavacrawler, actually I am not to sure that the factory posi would be any better than an open diff. and what ever you do, do not go with a true trac. I would look at something like a lock right or a powertrax, both of those are really good and not too spendy. But if they are more than you can budget right now, I would just stay open until you can afford more...

just my $0.02

Hey Paul, I can't find those shackles, I think they may have gotten spring cleaned.... :? :?

I can't really beat the magazine prices on gear stuff, you are better off buying what you want from Randy's Ring and Pinion, and then bringing it to me to put in... you may also want to check out E-Bay and see what you can get there..
