Any chevy 4.3 or V8 tranny will bolt up to it. But I would go with a 400 or 4l80e(overdrive) like AJ suggested. Or if you want a std. go with a nv4500 or sm465.

For an auto, i'd say TH400 cause it's simple and strong.

I run a well built T400 auto behind the Dawgs big block. 830+hp and 735ft lbs of torque and the tranny does great. Just make sure whoever builds the T400, if that's what you go with, knows what they are doing.

I run a TH350 behind mine and it sees some good abuse. If its not hugely built it should be fine. Just keep it cool. I run a deep AL pan and an exteranl cooler with a guage.

That may not be entirely true there....I believe some 4.3's had a 700r4 to them??

If you are going to be driving alot of highway...Get the 4l80e with the over drive, but if not just stick to a th400.

I wouldnt put a th350 behind it.

I didnt say anything about the type of tranny, just that they would "bolt up." I would not suggest running ANY 4.3 tranny behind a BB.
