right now I am runnin a semi float nine and a half incher, I want to get a locker but should I get one for this rear or find and swap in a full floater. Keep in mind that I probably won't go any bigger than the 37's I have and I'm only runnin a small block.

I'd go for a full floater.
Locker or not there is nothing stopping those axles ont he semi flater from pulling out.

BTW i have a full floater for sale. :deal:

I agree. The full floaters can be very cheap and the detroits for them are about $300 and are very easy to put in. Its also cheap to put disk brakes on them.

I had the same dilemma. I shattered the spiders in my 9.5 s/f in Moab 2003. Had the option of fixing it with a Detroit or look for 10.5 ff. I opted for the Detroit in my 9.5 because I couldn't find a decent deal on just the right ff and the price of Detroits went up for them. True, what everybody has said. But for me, I didn't have the time, resources, & money to pursue it any further. I do enjoy the lighter weight, taller ground clearance, and cheaper brake jobs on my 9.5 The Detroit for it was expensive, but totally worth it.

Full float is the way to go! It adds some more weight to your axle, but it is way stronger!

I have a flanged upside down D60 in the rear of my buggy.....I have bent 2 chrome molly shafts this year from hard rollovers...

This wouldnt happen if i had a full float rear end...

I probably would be better off with a full floater, Hard to say really, I've stripped(!) the teeth off of third gear and blew the planataries apart on my 208 with out any problems to the rear.

Unless someone had a locked, full float, 4.10, they have lying around I'll just wait for this one to blow.

note to self: quit dumping clutch and move the rev limiter back to five grand

Hard to say, I've got one lined up for basicaly free, its the locker I'm really after. Just name your price and all see what I can do or even part trade something for it. Still very interested though. 8)
