Our General Principles

We expect that all members of Planet4x4 will behave in a way that’s conducive to the diversity, intelligence and respectfulness of the community. Each of these three general principles is fundamental to the quality of our site.

Diversity... We’re a community from different backgrounds and have different perspectives on life. At all times, we expect our members to respect that.

Intelligence... We’re a community with quality standards and expect our members will make a sincere effort to contribute their thoughts in a meaningful and respectful manner. Posting messages and otherwise interacting on Planet4x4 is completely optional. Many members often prefer to just read what others have to say. But if you do post, we expect that you’ll be respectful of the time of others by posting meaningfully.

Respectfulness... We expect our member to show respect for others. Respecting their person, their views, their time and their opinions ... even if you disagree with them.

Basic Guidelines

The following eight categories of online conduct are unacceptable on Planet4x4 and constitute a violation of our Community Standards which may result in warning, suspension or loss of membership:

Harrassment... Harassment occurs when a member insults, attacks, and denigrates another member at any time. We have zero tolerance for taking an argument about a any topic to a personal level. For instance, the use of terms such as "idiot, moron, stupid" and other derogatory terms constitutes harassment. Repeated critical and sharply negative posts toward a forum member can also constitute harassment.

Disruption... Posts which intend to disrupt the topic of conversation or steer the topic away from the focus of the topic. Disruption can include harassment and posting completely off topic messages.

Vulgarity and Sexual Explicitness... As a community with a diverse variety of members, we ask that our members to post without using vulgarity. Vulgarity not only includes vulgar language and pictures but also sexist, racist, anti-religious and homophobic language which may offend others. We realize that there's a "grey area" of judgement with vulgarity but we ask that you'll respect others by avoiding vulgarity.

Solicitation... Refrain from using Planet4x4 to advertise your site and commercial sales, services or website. You may attach a link to your site within your profile. There's a area for specifically for Businesses, 'The Vendors Forum' at the top of the page.

Spamming... Spamming is the multiple posting of a identical or similar posts in one or more Forums. All Spam and multiple posts will be deleted.

Copyrighted Material... You may post links to appropriate articles but posting articles from other sources in their entirety is a violation of our Community Standards. Use your best judgement, since you agree in the Terms of Use to be held legally responsible for your own posts on this system, but if you must repost quotes or sentences, please credit the source.

Rating Level... This is a family oriented forum. Keep all Pictures, Links, Attachments, Conversations and Language at a PG-13 level. Anything beyond PG-13 will be deleted!

Images in Avatars & Signatures... Keep your Avatars related to wheelin' and 4x4's. Images in signatures are currently not allowed at this time.

Rules pertaining to 4x4 Shops & Businesses-

*Commercial ads belong in the Vendors Forums, please keep your posts offering parts or services in the correct forum.

* Paying Vendors are encouraged to post vehicle build-up threads and quality tech threads outside of the Vendors Forums.

If you have questions about 4x4 Shops and Advertising, PM or Email one of the Admins or Moderators.

Again, any disregard to the Guidelines and Principles of Planet4x4 may result in the Suspension or Banning of your Membership. Please, think before you Post!

Please bear in mind that these are only guidelines; there is always a "grey area" and we understand that. Use your best judgment, as we will use ours. If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them. Thank you for your time and willingness to contribute and we'll see you on the Trail!

Thank you! - From the Staff of Planet4x4
