Overview
Moab Mash is a three day yearly event held in Moab,
Utah and this year it will be in October on the 5th, 6th, and the 7th.
This is a relaxed, low key event and there is no event cost to attend.
Two informal get togethers will be held in the campground with a
raffle on Saturday night. Trail schedules are set for those that want to run
them and if not, there are plenty of other trails and things to do in
Moab. The idea is to relax and have a good time with friends. This
year the majority of us will be in the Moab KOA campground. There is
no food supplied at this event so you will need to pack your own food
for the trail and anything else you think you might need.
Schedule
Thursday Evening
Meet and greet at the campground. This is to see who all has made it
and finalize the leaving time and anything else that needs to be done.
7pm (or so). Friday
Hells Revenge Trail - We'll head out from
the campground at 9am. You need to enter one of the parks to get to
the trail head so there is an entrance fee for that. I think it was $5
last year. The trail itself is rated at 4+ but I think that is for
some of the optional obstacles. I've seen stock rigs make it through
with good driving and there are plenty of options for the hardcore. I
like this trail for the first day as its close to town and gives you a
chance to get your "Moab Mojo" and find any weak links. There are
great views and this trail is on of the most famous trails in Moab.
We'll try to eat lunch at Hells Gate and then hit the hot tubs after
that.
    Saturday
The Mashed Potato and the Pickle Trail -
These two trails are about 16 miles north of town and very close to
each other. The Mashed Potato trail runs up on top of some ridges and
it looks like you are driving along a giant plate of mashed potatoes.
Once again, this trails can be done by near stockers and there are
plenty of places to play. After that is the Pickle. This trail is
harder but is also very short. If you can make the first obstacle and
do not want to shove your full-size through the squeeze, its easy to
turn around, drive around the trail, and come in the top to try the
last obstacle which has a bypass (the only one). Or its easy to drive
up to and just watch the show on the first and the last obstacle.
We'll tray to each lunch on the backside of the Mashed Potato where
one of the play areas are.
    Saturday Evening
Get Together and the Raffle - We'll have a
get together in the campground around 7 pm and I'll try to get the
raffle going about 8pm or so. This was a real good time last year so
bring some lawn chairs and relax! Raffle Tickets are $1 each. Prize
list coming soon.
Sunday
Triple Threat - The triple threat is
going in on the Poison Spider Trail, running across of the Golden
Spike Trail, and exiting on the Gold Bar Rim Trail. This will be a
long day but its not too bad as long as you keep moving. You can get
back into town by 6pm with an hour lunch and such so its not that bad.
The idea is to keep rolling. The Golden Spike Trail is also one of the
most famous trails in Moab and everybody needs to cross the famous
Golden Crack. Having a rear locker is almost a must but I've seen it
done with open differentials. Or we can give you a tug on a strap. If
it works out, we'll eat lunch at the Golden Crack.
