I am selling my 1978 Jeep CJ 5 because I have to move to Alaska due to my wife's Air force commitments. I drove my 55 CJ-5 w/ a soft top around Fairbanks for three years. I would let the Airforce ship the CJ and drive the Land Rover up to Alaska. I had the Army ship my CJ and my wife and me drove our Rubicon down from Ft. Wainwright to Aspen. I would not let that little CJ get away, I regret selling mine.

I would love nothing better than to bring my cj to Alaska, it would be baddass in the snow! I am having to sell it because of financial reasons- sell my jeep, use that money to pay off the remainder of my wife's f150 2wd when we sell it, and be in a better position to do all the necessary fixes to the rover for the drive up. (rover=repairs)
Sucks, I know. I don't want to sell it.
P.S. How's the drive? Any tips?:drive:

For the drive-go to a local bookstore and get a large paperback called "The Milepost". Specific info updated every year about the Alcan.

I cheated and took the ferry. The Army paid for it so I took the mini-cruise!!!
If you go in the spring/ summer it will beautiful. If you take the Ferry you will see tons of wildlife.

I had considered the ferry. I don't know how the compensation will go, which way we'd net more. The only problem with that will be that we have a bigger dog and a cat that are traveling with us. Did you see any dogs on the ferry? I wonder where they'd go to the bathroom.

Sadly, I have sold the CJ.
