I am putting in a set of 6.5:1 t case gears this week. But I am a broke college kid and need a cheap way to beef up my t case. Some of you have said that you did it yourself. I was wondering if you guy had any pics. I just don't have the money to buy a kong or snatch.

Do you have access to a welder?

Here are some pics of what I did with mine. The finish looks terrible because I tried to spray it with a cheap undercoating. The last two pics are not mine, but are pretty much what I did with mine. I just looked for ways to beef them up. On the frame, I plated them as well because they will have a tendency to oblong holes, and sometimes tear off. Especially with the gears you are getting.

Yeah I broke down and just got it. I figured I don't know how to weld, so I would be asking someone else to take the time to fab it up for me. And I don't have money, so by just buying one I can rest better knowing it is built right and should be plenty strong. Instead of having to go in and re do weak spots every trip. Sean at Low Range said it is the one he would recomend over anything else. My gears came today. Cradle should be here Wed. Should be wheeling it on Sat.:drive::drive:Thanks for the pics!

You bet. You are really gonna like the gears. Wheeling will be a whole new ballgame. Where ya going to go wheeling?

First time out I'll probably just go out to the Rexburg Rock Trail. I want to get a least 1 more run through Shelly this season. That was the first real trail I ran in the Zuk. But I only had 235's on it. Now I got 31's and gears. Should be amazing. Then once school starts up here I am going to weld the rear end. A guy had access to the weld shop so we can do it for free. Once that is done I think I'll be set!!! (Yeah right...are we ever content with our rigs):thumb:

Mine has to be for a bit. Or else the wife will kill me.

Heath if I head out I'll give you a call. I haven't heard of anything in Preston but that doesn't mean anything.

They both have a good bucket. I would do the zuksoffroad one if I were to buy a new one now. I currently run the mighty kong.
The one thing I recommend is not using the solid mounts. It leads to ripping things apart, and puts a lot of shock stress on the t-case. I also got lots of drivetrain noise transmitted up into the cab. I found some mounts at carquest for about 7 bucks each vs. the 20 or so each that factory zuk ones run. I don't know what they fit, I just found them looking through their book.

Low Range carries the ZOR cradles. That is where I got mine from. I ordered mine yesterday (phoned it in) and it showed up today. I asked Sean (Low Range Owner?) and he recommended the ZOR products. He said the Might Kong is popular because t has been around for so long. This is the order in which he recommended them to me. #1 being the best.
1.) ZOR (Snatch $198, Slutty Snatch $199)
2.) Calmini Cradle $199
3.) Mighty Kong $189

I bought the ZOR one for $199 and it was shipped for $217. You can about the differences between the ZOR ones on the ZOR website. Even though the ZOR's are not on the Low Range site he stocks them.

The snatch is a very, very, nice set up. I got one back in april/may before the slutty was an option. I was hoping it would work with my SamboxII, but is doesn't so I am going to make one or modify this one to work.

Yeah I am pretty excited. Should be a big upgrade. Since my gears set up cost the same as what I bought the Sami for.
